Today let’s talk about the top 5 books on time management for your home library.

There’s an old saying: “if you read the best three books on a topic, you’ll be in the top ten percent of experts in the world on that subject.”

It’s totally true - most people don’t realize how EASY it is to self-educate yourself on ANY topic under the sun just by reading a few key books, and time management is no different.

So let’s go two better, and get FIVE of the best books on time management and productivity.

Quick List of the Top 5 Books on Time Management

Here’s a quick list of the five best books on time management:

Overview of the Top 5 Books on Time Management

Here we go…

“Getting Things Done”

Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen is considered “the bible” of personal productivity.

Written by one of the most in-demand business coaches in the world, I believe it’s the single all-time best-selling book on personal and business productivity.

Mr. Allen likes to mix the practical and the theoretical, the intellectual and the emotional, in his approach to time management - just like I do!

So, this book on time management will not only help with specific techniques but also with broader principles.

This book is definitely aimed more towards businesspeople and adults, but it’s a great read for a mature high schooler.

“15 Secrets Successful People Know”

The next book is 15 Secrets Successful People Know About Time Management by Kevin Kruse.

This is an AWESOME, research-based book on time management that uses real-life heroes of productivity as the basis for examples you can imitate in your own life.

The subtitle of the book is “The productivity habits of seven billionaires, thirteen olympic athletes, twenty-nine straight-A students and two hundred and thirty nine entrepreneurs.”

As the subtitle of this book suggests, the author interviewed billionaires, straight-A students, olympic athletes, and hundreds of entrepreneurs to find what made them so efficient and productive –

Then he connected the dots and provided a formula you can use for your own time management skills.

Definitely pick this one up - I love motivational books based on REAL people and REAL interviews.

“Eat That Frog!”

Eat That Frog! 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time by Brian Tracy is another classic by a legendary coach and author.

This book focuses on how to STOP PROCRASTINATING so it’s like coming at the problem from the opposite angle. Instead of asking “how do I use time BETTER?” it’s about how to stop WASTING time.

Based on the psychology of wasted time, this book on time management is great for anyone who finds their days and weeks slipping away from them because they aren’t taking action.

“The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”

Book four, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey is another popular classic book on time management.

The seven habits of this book are common to all hard-working and highly effective professionals and students.

This popular time-management book has remained a bestseller for 25 years!

Now that’s not an accident, it’s because millions of people have found it helpful for improving the effectiveness of their own time-management.

“The Power of Habit”

Finally, book five is The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg.

This time-management book spent over a year on the New York Times bestseller list and it is absolutely HUGE in terms of opening your eyes to the power of habits both good and bad.

It’s one of the easiest reads on this list and one that can help you tackle perhaps the MOST important element of time management - your DAILY HABITS.

Bonus Book: “Think and Grow Rich”

I’m going to give one final bonus mention to Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

Published around the time of the American Great Depression, this time-management classic contains inspirational wisdom that the author collected after TWENTY YEARS of interviewing the most successful businesspeople, leaders, and stars of his era.

Even though it might be my PERSONAL favorite, I don’t include it in this list of the top five because it’s pretty OLD-school and may be a tougher read for some high school students, whereas the five books I’ve recommended will be much more up-to-date and feel “modern” and easy to read.

However for the true connoisseur of time management, I do highly rate “Think and Grow Rich” because it covers comprehensive tips on setting goals and consistently reaching them –

Again, these are LITERALLY the same tips that people like titans of industry and famous Hollywood stars use to reach the top levels of achievement and fame.

So that’s a great 6th bonus book that absolutely deserves a mention any time you’re talking about time management.
